A Bizarre Sight

As I drove on Chamberlin Road today on the other side of Barton Mountain, I saw this dead woodchuck drapped over the Mountain Lane sign. I could see no injuries. It is just there. I hope this is not a female with babies left in a den somewhere. Do not scroll further if the photos may disturb you.

  1. I wonder what happened to the poor woodchuck? It's a big mystery.

  2. Ohhh, that's such a pity. I love animals so much, and this is such a mystery. (I put a link to your blog--hope that's okay.)

  3. That is a bit disturbing. Someone must have put it there, for what reason I don't know.

  4. As a road-kill trophy this is pretty grotesque... the work of the driver, a passersby? Either way any creature deserves a better fate than this.
The Seminoles and many other resident cultures believed that to show disrespect to any animal was to disrespect oneself and one's ancestors, PLUS you would incur the wrath of whatever clan held that animal to be its clansign. So whoever did this will not fare well in the ever after, I'm afraid.
