The Neighbor's Horses

After picking blueberries and after I took the photos of the hawk we came home. But the neighbor's horses were out of their field. In fact, the brown horse was pulling up huge mouthfuls of grass in the ditch by the road. I missed that great shot. I stopped the car and Amy jumped out and put both of the horses in their normal pasture near the barn. They had been pastured across the road and had taken down the portable electric fence. In this photo you can see the white horse up near the house. The second after I shot this photo, the white horse galluped up to Amy and the brown horse. I thought for half a second that Amy would be run over! All of the photos of this little adventure can be seen in my Amy Saves the Neighbor's Horses Flickr Set.

Harness Racing at the Barton Fair

I posted only these four photos of the horses because you can see that all four feet are off of the ground at the same time! Cool!

All photos will open, full-size, in a new window when you click on them.

These are going to be the latarget="new"st of the photos that I blog about the Barton Fair. I have sorted through all of the ones I took and posted over 350 fair photos at my Orleans County Fair Flickr Set. On Friday night I am going to the Caledonia County Fair — the oldest fair in Vermont — with my sister (she lives in Caledonia County).

Camera Critters: Neighbor's Horses by Wingnut

Grandson Wingnut and I walked the Crazed Beagles this week and Wingnut took these photos of the horses down the road. We still don't know their names!

Neighbor's White Horse Again

My neighbor's horse is a joy to photograph. She runs up to her fence when we walk by and her face is so expressive. She loves to roll in the mud. The next time I will ask her owners what her name is. I have been too shy to do so yet. These were taken on Thursday during the walk Mr. T and I took.

Heads or Tails: Express? Not!

Our "first day of Spring" was Sunday and I spent hours gadding about in the sun with my camera. My neighbors here were also enjoying the sunshine. The cream colored horse, usually sparkling clean, dozed in the dirt. I remember the first time I saw her lying in the sun during my first spring in this house. Not knowing what horses do, I was certain that she had died. I was actually on my way to tell my neighbors that their horse had died when the pretty horse heard me and stood up. I shamefacedly, but happily, returned home. On days like that day, you'll get nowhere fast if you ride these horses!

Heads or Tails: A Road with Horses

Please click on the photo to view it, full size, in a new window.

We had an inservice in Danville today. There were four horses on a farm on the same road as the school. During our lunch break, I took a walk to photograph them. You can see the other three horses on my Barton Daily Photo Blog.

I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful week.
