Photo Hunters: White T-Shirt Bleached PINK By Big Sister

The graphic shown is from the shirt of one of my male fifth grade students on Friday morning. This favorite shirt had been bleached, with dark clothes, by his big sister. It now has a pink hue. The principal told this student the shirt was inappropriate for school ("Why?" the student wailed. "Because it's pink?"), so the student had to wear it inside out all day. The shirt was considered appropriate by staff and students.

  2. Oh, poor boy. There's nothing wrong with his shirt I guess.

  3. That's so odd that the Principal made him turn the shirt inside out. Good shot and post for the pink theme.

  4. Well, I am not a Yankee fan so I don't see the problem;)

  5. Definitely worth a giggle. :) They make them turn them inside out around here as well--in fact I think that now the rule is no logo's or slogans unless it is a sport's team only or brand.

We don't do sports around here though I guess if we did it would be either Boston (we used to live there) or the Pirates (where we live now. :))

  6. Ohhh a Boston tee. Hehehe

  7. I know a few people who would take offense.. Me, not so much.

  8. Well, now! That was a surprise! We are big Yankee fans here, so I do understand the rivalry. We also live in SW Florida where Boston spring trains so most of the people we know are big Boston fans.

Thanks for your kind comments over at Pollywog Creek, Andree, and please forgive me for taking so long to get over here from last weekend when I was out of town.

  9. Hmmm, they obviously didn't like what the logo represented...oops! I thought it was rather funny. However, I guess the reaction would be the same at school here, too.

  10. Interesting... it's amazing how some things get colored pink in the wash.

  11. Maybe its because its looks discriminatory or something. I'm just guessing. But what an experience, wearing your shirt like that. Would have made his face turn pink or even bright red.

have a great weekend, Andree :)

  20. Hmm no surprise that he got to ear it iinside out! I understand that you have Rudy Giuliani rooting for you in the world series. Will the Red Sox send a wreath to his funeral!!!!

  21. What a great story! But I thought making him turn his shirt inside out was a bit excessive!

  25. It looks like that pink is right this year! Go Sox!

  26. It's so hard being a Yankee fan. I'm not, but a couple of years ago I was in Boston during the world series. The college boys who were obviously from Long Island were very nervous. Funny picture!

  27. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!! GO SOX!!!!

    Have a great weekend.

  28. Well, I can definitely see why that shirt could be viewed as inappropriate. (And not because it's pink! *grin*) But then both of my humans went to Catholic schools, where a lot of shirts were considered inappropriate, and that shirt would have been one of them!

  29. I think it's a cool shirt.
    Thanks for the visit!

  34. Principals who have no humor shouldn't be principals. I have seen worse T-shirts in a school. This one is even cute !

  35. Oops!! My husband has a pink T-shirt that is supposed to be white as well. Maybe everyone does...........

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  36. They would do the same at my daughter's school- they've really been enforcing the dress code this year. I'm glad they have been- it was getting really out of hand. But, I bet that boy was not "tickled pink" over the decision.

  37. I hate it when I turn my boys' shirts pink! Thanks for stopping by!

  49. Maybe it was inappropriate because of the butt crack showing on the ball player and not because it was pink.

  53. I agree with Dragonheart...so people just don't get it.

  54. Funny shirt (though I had to refer the Wikipedia article that you linked to in your previous post to get the joke) & a great selection for PH.
I think it is inappropriate for a 5th grader. Would've been okay in high school or college. But then I come from a place where all school kids wear uniforms. Discipline and decorum were the watchwords in the schools that I went to. Academics was secondary.
I would have worn it if it showed the Indian cricket team sprinkling/showering the Aussies :D

  55. Sounded like a good reason to tell him to turn it inside out,.. don't think he would have understood that it may have offended someone. That was too funny. Thanks for visiting my post and have a good weekend.
I haven't been on much this past week either, puter went down, lost all my photos, and sick with a cold. I am glad this week is over. Have a good one.

  56. Yeah, 'cause it's pink!

    Thanks alot big sis.

  57. neat choice for the week and I enjoyed the post above it

  58. Funny. You really do have to watch what you wear to school, though. Kids get in a lot of trouble for what they see as innocent self-expression.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hmmmm...I'll go out on a limb and guess that you are a Sox fan???? We're cheering for them too!

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's not appropriate because it's pink??? Weird principal I think...

  61. Nice one, the boston red sox and the yankees are hot rivals, although I am not that into MLB.
