Photo Hunters: Antique

My Antique Home

The beams and roof of my Vermont home were made from large trees 106 years ago. If you click on the photos, a new window will open so that you can view them large.

This first photo is shot directly overhead at the highest point in the roof.

This photo shows a large beam with the bark from long ago still on the wood.

Thank you for looking at my attic! See you next week when the theme is Soft!

You know I love old buildings and architecture. You might have seen some of my post about it from Norway and with houses hundred of years old.
Wishing you a wonderful end to your week:-)

  13. From what I can see you attic isn't full of junk like so many are! Is there a reason we only saw the ceiling?? I think it's amazing that those trees were 106 years old. It looks like a very sturdy place, too!

Thanks for stopping by earlier. Looking forward to next week's soft side!

  18. Amazing when you consider that most of the power tools we have today were not available then. Yet most of the older homes are in so much better shape than the newer ones. Fantastic photos and use of the theme, thanks for stopping by and visiting me too.

  21. Wow - 106 year old beams - that is awesome. I check out your entire house - beautiful, especially when the picture was taken. I love the composition of it with the land and they sky. Was it taken during sunset or sunrise?

  23. Not only is it amazing that the timber used to build that roof is 106 years old, but also that back in those days they were able to build the roof with such a high pitch! Amazing! :)

  24. What a lovely home you have, and I *love the wood!

  25. Great "antique" photos! There's nothing like an old house. My farm house will be 100 years old next year. There's something very romantic and charming about a house that has stood for so many years.

  26. I love the old wood. My house is nearly 120 years old but the attic is finished.

    A bit of history...

  40. I'm impressed.. but are they strong enough?? Scares me.

  41. That truly is wonderful that the beams and planks have lasted this long already! So many people are now taking planks from old barns to redo their homes. Love it! Thanks so much for visiting me:-)

  42. I always marvel at such antique dwellings. Such history they carry in their walls.

  43. awesome, beautiful pictures!

  44. Wow, indeed! They don't build them this sturdy any more. Does it creak when the heat comes on? We had a church in PA that had heavy wooden beams across the top and it would creak and crack when the temperature changed... very spooky at night in the dark.
