Narrow

Oliver

While writing about our cat walks in the past, I remembered a hike we took with the cats up Barton Mountain behind the house. We explored the boulders and caves at the top and the cats had a wonderful time. Here, Oliver squeezed through a crevasse under a glacial erratic to try to ambush Oscar, whose legs can barely be seen on the right in the middle. Those two cats won't ever be forgotten and are sorely missed.

Feline Friday: Nell & Oliver Video plus . . .

Above, Baby Nell and Oliver have an "argument."
It is a very dark video. I didn't know what I was doing back then.
Wait for the end!

In three weeks, I am planning to adopt a cat. I don't know if it will be a kitten or an adult that is Nell's age. But we all know what will happen: it will be a cat that I simply fall in love with no matter what the age. I have to wait because I'm having a new furnace installed for the winter and don't want the new cat to be scared when that happens. I wanted all of you to be the second to know (my kids were the first)!

๐Ÿ’— I'm so excited I can barely stand it! ๐Ÿ’—

More kitties here!

Happy Tuesday: Hello!

Twice a day, at meals, Nelly would say hello to Oliver.
It got pretty embarrassing! But Oliver never cared.

Awww Monday: 2020

I found this video that iPhone made me reviewing 2020. My husband had died only six months before and I was in complete lockdown alone. The internet saved me — most of us — and my children and I talked all day long, cooked together, had challenges together, gossiped, watch parties, played games, and shared everything together. Here you will see only my son, the only man in the video. You'll see my house, my road, my animals, Lucy and me kissing, my bugs, me shooting bugs with JF, my virtual schoolroom, a student for Halloween, cats visiting my virtual classroom, my cooking fails. It brought tears to my eyes.  Because school starts tomorrow and I have so much cooking, planning, writing, and photo editing to do, I was going to pass on today's post. But once I found this video, I had to share. iPhone chose all the images and the music.  Thank you for watching.

Photo Sunday: Oliver in the Shadows

Every winter, I would put Cat TV on the computer for Oliver to watch the things he loved: mice and birds in the trees. He would sit next to me in the shadows and watch and talk to the computer screen.

He also enjoyed watching Chopped at bedtime.

Another Pet Friends iPhone Movie

This dates from when Oliver was still with us and Nell was young. Lucy had to deal with a lot from Nell.  ๐Ÿ˜€

Newest Pet Friends Video

If you have an iPhone, you probably get these video memories that it creates for you. This is my newest one. It has both cats, Oliver and Nell. Oliver died in March suddenly and unexpectedly. It still hurts. Seeing this video reminds me of how sweet and loving he was. He always sat in on my virtual math classes; the kids loved seeing him. He is the plumber, green-eyed tabby with the sweet face. Nell usually looks grumpy with the copper eyes.

Oliver on a Rock

I have several huge glacial erratics on my property and was standing at the bottom of one photographing lichen on this day. I felt stuff landing on my head, so I looked up (and I was scared to see what animal could do that) to see Oliver three feet above my head on top of the erratic, knocking stuff onto me. Cats love to do that, right? Somehow I managed to get this shot even though my settings were for macros. This is one of my fondest memories of this cat; he was always ready for a hike out back. From April 11, 2012.
