Skywatch Friday: Sunset GIF

I think these are cirrus clouds. Perhaps somebody can confirm that. It was taken at sunset on August 10, 2022, and were coming from the southeast. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight" was absolutely true. In fact, until today, it has been perfect weather. Thursday was a big disappointment because of the weather: it was my last free day of summer vacation. Today I'm back in school. 😢

Awww Monday: Weekend Wrap-up

I called Lucy down from the upper field just to see her face when she asks, "What? What?" and being so happy, as she is all the time (well, unless I won't give her a treat that is bad for her).

Daughter Amelia took Dori for an evening walk and bumped into a beautiful sunset.

Amelia and her husband went out for the evening, leaving two foster kittens behind with their babysitter, Fender, who confronts them at the end of the evening at the door, "Why you so late??? They were so naughty!"

Dori had a bath. Dori always ends her baths like this. Dori is a self-drying puppy.

Remy (for Rembrandt), below, is a pandemic lockdown kitty that my son, Andrew, adopted literally one hour before lockdown in Washington, DC, where he lives. Remy "discovers" himself here. He bushed out his tail at the stranger (he's a shorthair).

Finally, my daughter, Anna, and her husband rescued abused brother long-hair chihuahuas a few years back. What a handful they are! But here, Stewie and Milo share a quiet, cooing moment.

Thanksgiving Sunset

I don't like shooting landscapes or sunsets, but I couldn't miss this sunset Friday night. I wanted more practice with the next two nights, but I read through the one on Saturday night and I napped through tonight's sunset. Hopefully, they were cloudy sunsets so I didn't miss much at all!

After I shot this photo, I downloaded The Photographer's Ephemeris software (available for PC, Mac, Linux and Apple and Android apps). It tells you the astronomical data you need to shoot sunrises and sunsets. TPE gives you elevations and all sorts of information you need to get your outdoor photography lighting done well. Catgirl Stars As Brachiosaurus!

In May, the Kindergarten and first grades presented Dinomotion! for their spring production at school. Nate and Amy, John and I went to see it. I had my new long lens, which was a huge benefit to getting these shots. Catgirl is in Kindergarten and was at times nervous, shy, tired and happy. When Catgirl saw me and John, she waved to us and we saw her relax a bit. She had her first solo part as the Brachiosaurus and her father had helped her learn her part perfectly. She was a beautiful star that night! You have to forgive me posting so many photographs of her . . . she is just so cute that I couldn’t select just a couple shots.

After the show, Amy & Nate treated us all to ice cream sundaes (except John, who doesn’t particularly care for it) at Tim & Doug’s in Newport. We walked on the boardwalk at Memphremagog, where Ironman told us to watch out for whales and dolphins.
