I was out photographing Crystal Lake when this bulldozer went by. Between snow falls, these bulldozers, some with extremely long blades, cut back the snowbanks that the plows have made by the side of the road. This creates room for the plows to pile more snow on the banks. I had never seen this done before I moved here. If you click on the photo you can see the cuts in the banks that he has made. The oncoming truck has a plow on it also. The bulldozer is going south on Route 5 by Crystal Lake in Barton.
When I lived on the west side of Michigan we got tons of "lake effect" snow, but I don't think I ever saw a bulldozer out lending a hand.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is always so pretty!
Beautiful shot! "P"erfect "P"ost for today.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like this before either! That's pretty cool - at least it gave you a really cool photo opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful we don't get that much snow...at least not yet. I guess last winter was awful, but I missed it.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a TON of snow! :)
ReplyDeletewow...lots of snow
ReplyDeleteMy first Heads or Tails
some more 'p' words from me....Pretty Picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not a snow person, growing up and raising a family in snowy Colorado winters...this is not a joyful memory for me, so familiar is the plow!! I like snow now, only in pictures LOL
My HoT is posted, I hope you drop by for a chat!! Happy Tuesday Andrée.
We dont get to see snow in bangalore, but good to catch a lovely glimpse over here
ReplyDeleteThat's a great photo....and Plows is a good one for the theme......cheers...
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys have about as much snow as we do!
ReplyDeleteThe village is very good about clearing the roads around here and a bulldozer with a plow comes around regularly.

How interesting. We don't have snow here and it's nice to learn a bit about maintaining roads during heavy snow.
ReplyDeleteI just posted news of a contest I'm having for Heads Or Tails players. Check it out. :)
ReplyDeleteI live in Canada and I saw A LOT of snow plows this year. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI got stuck behind a snow plow that had these kinds of blades that cut the snow banks back. The blades were cool because there was a front blade and side blade and the side blade folded back against the side of the plow when the plow came to an area that didn't need to be cut! It took forever to get to a place where the plow pulled over so I could pass...but it was fascinating to watch! :)
ReplyDeleteThe plows have been really busy around here this winter. I understand the need to move the snow so there's room for more. I try doing that with my shovel on the driveway - at least I try pushing it off the top of the pile so that I can reach high enough to shovel it the next time.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, we've seen plenty of those here in CO. It's always a joyful sight! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your "p"ost! Crazy amounts of snow, and great "p"icture!
ReplyDeleteBrrr, I'm freezing just by seeing that photo! I'm glad that we don't have any snow this winter :-)
ReplyDeleteWe can get much snow in the winter if unlucky, but it hasn't happened for some years now.
Excellent choice for P!!!
That is a lot of snow. I don't envy that plow driver. Have a great day and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful picture. I want some snow before winter is over, but no luck so far. Then again, you would probably like to send me some of your snow, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a bulldozer do that either. We got a little snow today, not enough for these big bulldozers.
ReplyDeletewhat a great photo! when I worked in NYC I used to love to watch them scoop the snow up and dump it into the river - within hours Manhattan looked like it was eternally spring. Of course then I'd go home to Brooklyn only to discover the city plows had cleared the street and buried my driveway - again!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe these guys could give lessons to other cities.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
What a beautiful picture. We haven't had any snow this year and I really miss it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I love yours and all the beautiful cats.
Clever. We had ten feet of snow - actually still have 2+ - doing an extremely slow melt. I don't know what the plows did nor when they did it but my car was confined to the garage for nearly a month. Enjoyed your post!
ReplyDeleteI've only saw dozers clearing off parking lots here where I am. We have one at the plant where I work lol. On a side note, I think I might have a pic or two of the rocking horse that I made for my grandson somewhere, but I'd have to find it. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
