Vermont Plow Day

Last month, all the children in school were asked to name a snow plow. The state decided to name plows like they do in Scotland. Each class came up with a name and, as a school, voted on Sub-zero. It was submitted and it won! Over 100 of the state plows were named. Last Tuesday, all of the named plows (there are still quite a few un-named) visited the schools that named them statewide. Here is our plow. I don't know what district it plows, but I assume it is our state transportation district. I hope so; it will be fun if the kids see "their" plow on the road. We are a private day school, so we cannot show any children in our photos.

There was quite a lot of news activity, besides the Vermont stations, on the Plow Day events in the state that day:

  2. Those folks do a fabulous job all winter long! This is really touching and harkens back to the community meeting way of organizing ourselves. Wholehearted applause for something we can do together with no dissension.

  3. What fun! I wonder if we could figure out something for kids here to name.
