The interior of the house was glowing pink, so Lucy and I went outside to relax after an awful day at school. It was the kind of day when you ask yourself why you are doing this job. Within five minutes, the sky changed so quickly that it was breathtaking. It was so centering that it healed me. But then, Lucy checked the porcupine that is living under the barn and all hell broke out. She never attacks animals, but she does vigorously warn me with an alarming bark and sometimes, like tonight, with her hackles up. I knew what she was excited about, so I praised her vigilance and told her it was fine. I wish I had gotten a photo of her happy face while she told me about the intruder. The porky this year is simply huge. It's so huge I'm surprised it can even walk.

I love looking at the sky and sometimes marveling at how fast it changes. You got some really different colors.
ReplyDeleteI love the story about your dog finding a porcupine. I don't think I have ever seen one in the wild.
These are just lovely skies.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
WOW! Spectacular sky shots!
ReplyDeleteAww! That porcupine is so cute!
Hugs and blessings, Andree 💐
Top shots.
ReplyDeleteWonderful skies!
ReplyDeleteThe skies are beautiful, but what a beast ! I have never seen such, it's really big ! No wonder that your dog got nervous !
ReplyDeletePorcupines are no danger except to trees. And they attract fisher cats, their only known enemy. And fisher cats eat house cats and are especially vicious animals. If a dog goes for a porcupine, it will get quills in its mouth and nose and that is awful. But Lucy just doesn't do that. She simply loves to find animals and tell me about them.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the sky shots, the porcupine is cute but I hope Lucy stays safe.
Take care, have a great day and happy weekend.
Thank goodness Lucy wasn't foolish enough to mess with the porcupine.
ReplyDeleteYour skies are just glorious and thank goodness Lucy didn't tangle with that porcupine!
ReplyDeleteGreat changing skywatch and that little porcupine is a really cutie.
ReplyDeleteAmazing capture of the changing colours in the sky, and what an adorable porcupine! I'm wondering if they come to you on their own or if you raise them. Have a nice weekend
ReplyDeleteYou don't own or raise them. They are just wild in the woods eating tree bark. Especially apple trees, their favorite. They don't come to us, they try to avoid us but are SO slow and shambling that it's easy to get a good shot of one. I especially like to find them in trees. Those are the cutest shots. They are pretty clumsy on the ground.
DeleteThese skies are truly healing and your photos are wonderful. Never seen a porcupine in free... (only in a zoo)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany
By the way: my today's story was not my dream (that was in another post), only fatansy...
DeleteWonderful sky photos this week, especially the next to last photo. On those occasions when my entire neighborhood is bathed in red light, it literally takes my breath away, and that photo captured the feeling I get.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question; yes schools are off for about 6 weeks over Summer which is from December to February here.
ReplyDeleteI love sunrise and sunset - your pink skies are beautiful
ReplyDeleteVermont is a healer! I resided in Northern New Hampshire for a while. Hey. Glad you're going to ride along with my little book! I really hope you enjoy it. Have a healing and restorative weekend dear
ReplyDeleteYou captured the beauty in the skies, lovely colours. I think Lucy would enjoy a treat after that fierce encounter with the porcupine. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that fluffy little porcupine you just want to pick it up and cuddle it. I see you did get the idea of looking around in the sky, the colour changes as you look. I see you live in a place called Barton, good job it is not the one in Oxford UK, you really would not want to live there, really bad place
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots of the magnificent changing sky ~ Bravo to Lucy ! Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

That's a very pretty sky but I'm sorry you had a bad day. I had a really bad day at work, chucked it and retired early. That's one cute porcupine!
ReplyDeleteGlorious skies. I really like them!
ReplyDeleteWonderful skies captured.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky colors!
ReplyDeleteI was on a road trip to Montreal, and stopped in Burlington for lunch.
Agreed. The sky changes within moments. I like how you showed the difference of the same scene 45 minutes later.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the sunset is so soothing, it's the best part of the day.
ReplyDeleteSharp scenes...literally!
