While driving on my bird road, I saw this little woodchuck guy ambling across a meadow. As I stopped, he stopped. I learned that when I moved, he moved. I assume that is a survival tactic. If that which hunts you is still, you should be still so that the hunter cannot see you. But when the hunter moves? Get outta there! I would assume.
Woodchucks are one of my favorite animals. I usually have a family living under the barn every spring. One year we had triplets!
Thank you so much for visiting!

ReplyDeleteWoodchucks are related to the marmots we have in the mountain meadows. I thought the critters I have posted were woodchucks. I don't know where I got that mistaken idea. Theya re a kind of ground squirrel--Wyoming ground squirrel or Piute Ground Squirrel, I think.
ReplyDeleteNice action shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by mine :)
Very good Andrée
ReplyDeleteYou got a great photographic flagrant.
I've never heard a woodchuck, but do they have a loud, high-pitched chirp like our rockchucks in the west have?
ReplyDeleteThey certainly look similar.
