Our cider press, made by John in 2015. He used ironwood from our land for the sides and "feet" and birch for the slats. He left the ironwood in its natural state because it's tough wood and I love it like this. I can't remember where he got the mechanical parts. It’s a work of art, and it made all of our cider when he tended the orchard. I am keeping this forever despite several offers to "take it off my hands."
I think I know someone who will help you drink your cider surplus. And, yes, you should keep the press in case you decide to produce wine. I like red.
ReplyDelete...I have a "store bought" mill that similar yours. Soon it will be cider season.
ReplyDeleteGreat tool!
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me that I have a friend from choir who makes his own wine and beer - and bread - and ice cream. All Very Useful Skills. But the best is his apple wine/cider.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty this is and I've seen ironwood and it is as tough as nails!
