The outside temps reached 8°F on Saturday (-13°C). I got groceries, ran errands, fixed a couple of things around the house and cooked the pineapple upside down cake (recipe from
The Joy of Cooking
) and the cornbread. Amy made the chili with ground turkey (Matt won't eat beef or pork). The snow and cold are making me pretty domestic!

And today I made winter soup. It's simmering now, I'm getting ready for that first parsnippy sharp bowl.

I haven't had pineapple upside down cake since I was a kid. Mum used to make and my brothers and I all loved it. We'd be absolutely drooling while it was baking.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a memory you brought back for me.
