Photo Hunters: Hair

These tiny wild strawberries grow all over my property. See the hairy stalks (stems)? If you click on the photo you can see it large in a new window. This is the first season that I have ever seen berries on the plants. Usually the birds and woodchucks eat them all up before I see them. I wish they would save me enough for a big bunch on a big scoop of Ben & Jerry's vanilla! This berry plant was near one of my front doors, an area where the wildlife doesn't like to visit too often. No, I did not pick them. I left them for those that live outside.

School is now over so the rush and stress of the end-days is over (but I am very exhausted from it). So I am now back to the Photo Hunt. I have to say, though, that visiting a couple of hundred participants every weekend did overwhelm me. How does everybody decide who to visit and not visit? I simply can't go through the whole blog roll every weekend anymore (next winter maybe, when I am again snowed in, but not in good weather). Thank you for the help!

Thank you, also, for visiting. Have a wonderful summery weekend!

  1. Wow, wild strawberries in your property. I find that amazing 'coz we don't have wild strawberries here. They only grow in the cold northern areas in our country that's why strawberries are more expensive compared to other fruits. Great entry!

  2. Great idea for the theme. Very different indeed. Wild strawberries are very special but it's nice you left them for the animal life.

  3. You are the first person with not human hairy pictures ! I found this theme very difficult besides my cats I don't have special hairy stuff here not even in our garden.

  4. Very creative. Those stems are definitely hairy. How sweet that you left that delectable berries for the critters outside. Great pick for The Hunt.

  7. Great choice the theme - very creative.

btw - there is no way that I visit all of the blogs on the list for the photo hunt. I would spend all weekend doing that and just do not have that kind of time. I will normally visit anyone that happens to come to my site, go to the site of the week, try to visit any new people that have joined the hunt, and just visit some of the blogs that have left comments on some of the sites that I visit. All-in-all, it is usually between 20 and 40 blogs that I visit for the hunt - some "regular" ones each week but I also try to pick out new ones that I have never been to.

    Happy Weekend!

  8. Great entry! I love wild strawberies, they have so much more flavour than cultivated ones.

I don't even attempt to visit every site. My system is this:
    1. I visit tnchick's and leave a comment there
    2. then I visit some of the other commenters who have visited at much the same time
    3. I visit all the new joiners listed by tnchick
    4. I visit anyone who has visited me, either this week or the previous week.

    It's still quite a task!

  9. Wow, wild strawberries ... not sure if we have them here ... just the cultivated variety.
It is hard when your blogroll is huge ... I now use Google Reader and Bloglines ... saves visiting blogs where there are no updates. My blogroll is well over 100, and it takes quite some time.
    Take care, Meow

  10. Now that is a different take. Great idea!

I noticed the hairy part is quite sharp in some plants. I'm not sure about wild strawberries' hairy stem, we don't have it here in the rainforest.

    Have a nice weekend! :)

  16. Clever thinking. ;)

Great capture on the strawberries too.

I visit those who comment and sometimes if I see some one comment some that catches my attention in other's blog I'll get lead astray. :))

  17. Strawberries sure are hairy. These give my son the wheezes (asthma) whenever he has one too many. But he loves them fresh no matter what.

Do come and visit me please. I have a post in my blog about Vermont (Home Away From Home post): http://teacherjulie.com/?p=410

It may be a problogging post but I really, really want to go visit Vermont.

    Have a great weekend!

  18. That is so neat! I wander how good they taste?

I never visit all the participants either. I have a few regulars that I visit each week, then try to add in a few new blogs, too.

  20. I visit the ones that visit me for sure ( though I haven't played in two or three weeks now), then I click on a few random links from list...and then there are a few I try to get to each week...but visit all of them, there's no way- it would take me all weekend!

  21. That's a great take on the theme! Very different!

You're right, there's no way to visit all the photo hunters -- not and get anything else done. I visit others who post to TN Chick's Sat. post about the same time I do plus a few others whom I've come to know. I visit those who visit me. I usually visit around later Friday evening and Sat. morning. I don't get to those who post later Saturday usually -- I feel bad about that but that's about all I can do.

  27. how thoughtful for you to leave the berries -- I likely would have scooped them and ate them before thinking. My "hairless" photo is up for this week -- a bit late but posted nonetheless.
