The School Garden

My school has a garden as part of the Farm to School Program. Today we went to help weed the garden. We'll be going every Tuesday morning until Wingnut goes home.

Above: planting green beans.

Above: thinning the basil.

Above: harvesting radishes

My radish was sweet. Wingnut said his was spicy.

When work was done, we had to update the garden's journal.

  1. We had a garden program when I taught at MLK (Martin Luther King).. The kids loved it.

How fun, such a great activity! And so important.

At MLK, which is an inner city school--food comes from cans, frozen packages and McDonald's. They had NO IDEA is grew in the ground (and were pretty grossed out by it at first.)
