What do you do when the woman you called Mother for forty-eight years is buried with hate, resentment and jealousies? You pray incessantly for a family that most likely never existed. You pray for forgiveness and to grant forgiveness.
There is a new blog about forgiveness: The Sunflower. It is a discussion and reflection about forgiveness in our society. The blog is based on Simon Wiesenthal's book The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgivesness (a link for the book is on the sidebar of The Sunflower). I first read it in 2006 on the recommendation of my minister.
Please go to The Sunflower blog. If you want to join us, buy the book and read it with us. Tell me, Sandy Carlson (of Writing in Faith) or Mary Stebbins Taitt (of so many beautiful blogs) that you want to join, and you will be a contributor. If you don't want to contribute, be sure to grab the feed (by RSS or e-mail) and comment.
What did I do on Saturday? I did not go to the burial. Wingnut and I went to the circus.
