Stick season is what we call the time from now until … whenever. Some say until snow. Some say all winter. But it has begun in earnest. All I know is that I am grieving the loss of summer. The furnace is ready. The studded tires are on the car. Food and supplies are put in.

As lovely as it must be to have four full seasons, there are difficulties, i'm sure. We have two, variously described as wet and hurricane, or summer and February.
ReplyDeleteI have fresh batteries in a flashlight just in case the electric goes out. I get gas when the gage says half full because snow may come at any time. I put the summer, spring and fall clothes away and took out the warmer jackets, sweaters and wool trousers. I enjoy the four seasons but one does have to be prepared. And so it is. I like the photograph of the lonely tree and the road appears to be going up hill. Very nice job.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love spring, summer and fall, I am not a fan of winter. Love your sky capture. Take care, enjoy your day and weekend!
It's that time of year!
ReplyDeleteStick season has its very own beauty!
ReplyDeleteStick season indeed. Our trees haven't turned yet, but soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
I have never (New York State) heard the expression "stick season" but it's a good one. I am not a fan of winter.
ReplyDeleteLooks cold, but beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking sky!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of stick season either but it works! We don't need studded tires here, if we get an inch of snow or some ice everything closes.
