In January, at my church's annual meeting, I agreed to be the church delegate to the Vermont Conference of the United Church of Christ annual meeting. I was assured that the meeting would be in Lyndon, as it is every other year. But it wasn't: it was in Castleton, a good three hours southwest of Barton. I stayed in nearby Lake Bomoseen at the Edgewater Motel, where Fay, a fellow delegate, was staying. It was a great spot. It was just as it must have been in 1965, mouse traps and all. I should have gone into the water, but I never seemed to get around to it. Next year the meeting will be in Lyndon, because the Conference alternates between the two sites.
My room was the bottom right corner room.
I went to two workshops and one plenary session. I got a few photos as you see here and will see soon. Fay and I also ran into Michael, our past pastor at church. It was great to see him there. Next year I expect to know more of the people at Meeting that I met here.

looks like a very lovely spot! Hope you get to swim before you leave.
ReplyDeleteSorry it took so long to respond, Mary. I was there the first weekend of June. I don't do trips away from home too well, and I rushed back half a day early. But this motel room helped me keep sane because it was old and comfortable and nobody else was there. I never did swim there, but I should have!
