You learn a lot digging in the dirt. John found this ancient maple tree stump, bigger than the tractor, in the front near the road behind the rotting fence. Digging it out, he found that the yard once had a stone wall on the road with at least two huge maple trees. The road was not in the exact place it is now and it wasn't paved back then, so it must have been beautiful. He finally got this stump broken and dug out and dragged up to the driveway. We still don't know what we'll do with it.

The stump itself has a beauty, especially set against the dirt road and the grass.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cat. I'm hearing down in the village that people think we are using it for "lawn art." Stuff is already growing out of the stump.
