After the Flash Flood Day 4

Bug sits are helping me cope with the damage. More on that later, when I am able to deal with it. Please view full screen for the best viewing.

Pet Friends Over the Years

00:01:12

Another video from iPhone today and just when I needed it. Dori's littermates are in this video. I've learned how to save these forever because they are better videos than I'll ever make. It's been a very rough two weeks and I am slowly climbing out of the dark hole and regaining my life. So I have made no visits and very few posts. Who knew life at this age, and alone, could be this difficult?

Cooking and Pet Friends

00:52

It's been the week. I come home from school, feed the cats and dog, eat supper, and just stop moving until bedtime. All the while, classes, lessons and individual students are on my mind. The weather is dreary and depressing. Going back to school after a long break is hard on kids. Hard on me.

Church is now all virtual for January and February because of heating costs, COVID. influenza, and RSV concerns, and traveling on winter roads. This helps me so much because of my knees and gives me one more day that I don't have to get dressed. My weekly virtual Bible study class suddenly shut down over the holidays and I don't know when, or if, it will start up again. It is out of upstate New York with people from there, Vermont, and snowbirds in Florida. I think I'll ask our minister if she has time to do a virtual Bible study. I miss it.

I'm more hooked up during remote church service than I was in grad school.

During the school break I successfully avoided Christmas and baked bread as much as I could. I even did a tiny bit of cleaning and re-organizing in the house.

iPhone dropped these two videos on me this morning. Again: so many memories. Apple recycles many of the same photos, plus some new ones, and sets them to different music. I welcome them.

Snow Day iPhone Video

00:45

My phone dropped a lot of video on me this week. This is my favorite one. We are so warm today that it is raining but there will be a flash freeze, then snow, tomorrow. I won't be able to go to Christmas Eve service tomorrow!

Please note that in this video, if there is mud or bare ground, it is spring or autumn. The blowing snow was from last winter. The music was chosen by iPhone.

Happy Holidays!

iPhone dropped this yesterday. It's over three years of shots. Some were failures, but I gotta say I have impressed myself.  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Caturday Art iPhone Fun

A poorly lit portrait of Betsy on iPhone

My iPhone updated to iOS 16.x. This time, I actually took the time to read about the updates and found that I can now remove backgrounds from photos. In a hurry as always, I grabbed the above photo taken at night with bad lighting, removed the background and got this:

Background removed

I knew instantly what images I needed to use to make this successful but just plowed on with this image. I put it into Photoshop Elements 11 and fixed the light as best I could.

That's better.
But I couldn't recover her beautiful eye color.
It's also a bit green.

I could have removed the greenish tint, but I didn't. I wanted to play! I used only Photoshop Elements filters here.

Please don't ask me which filters: I didn't pay attention!

I definitely have a lot more playing to do. I want more and softer colors.
But now I have a new time-sucking hobby!
(I actually love those.)

Another Pet Friends iPhone Movie

This dates from when Oliver was still with us and Nell was young. Lucy had to deal with a lot from Nell.  ๐Ÿ˜€

Newest Pet Friends Video

If you have an iPhone, you probably get these video memories that it creates for you. This is my newest one. It has both cats, Oliver and Nell. Oliver died in March suddenly and unexpectedly. It still hurts. Seeing this video reminds me of how sweet and loving he was. He always sat in on my virtual math classes; the kids loved seeing him. He is the plumber, green-eyed tabby with the sweet face. Nell usually looks grumpy with the copper eyes.
