We Went to Circus Smirkus

At the end of June, I went to Circus Smirkus in Greensboro with Catgirl and Ironman. It was the first time they had seen this circus and they were thrilled to be able to sit on the floor (truly a ringside seat!) throughout the entire performance. I couldn't choose which of the 532 photos to post so I made a slideshow of the whole shebang. The show was one of the best that I've seen. I hope that if you live in New England you are able to see a performance this summer.

Circus Smirkus: Part 1

Circus Smirkus! Wingnut goes every year.

The circus tents are in fields in Greensboro. There are no signs to show you how to get there. You have to know the roads to find it. Views of mountains surround you.

The tent holds more people than you would think.

The rigging for the circus acts is all ready.

They ask us to squeeze together so that the huge crowd can fit in.

Greensboro Butterfly

Least Skipper (Ancyloxypha numitor)
Thymelicus lineola – European Skipper

We went to Circus Smirkus today and had a wonderful time. We ran into my sister and her husband and grandchildren. At intermission I took photographs of these butterflies in a nearby field. More of them can be seen in my Butterflies and Moths Set on Flickr. I am too tired to post about Circus Smirkus now. I will catch up (a little bit) tomorrow.
