Odd Shots: Duck Tipping

Three mallard drakes were swimming side by side yesterday. Perfectly synchronized, they all oddly tipped and rose at the same time. I always enjoy watching duck (and geese) feet wave in the air when they tip. But I noticed a couple of other things in these photos . . .

. . . the feet should be held underwater for balance . . .

. . . and just before they tip over, they look as if they are capsizing!

  4. I usually don't comment on memes I haven't participated in, but I just HAD to comment on this! It just cracked me up, and it was such GREAT timing on your part to capture this!!! I LOVE it! Besides, since I'm one of your biggest fans, I'm allowed to comment on ANY of your posts, even if I'm not a member of the meme... which I probably should be, huh? Yeah I guess I should. Am I rambling? Oh yeah, I'm rambling - sorry!
    Luv ya!

  8. Cool captures! How fun! I absolutely LOVE watching ducks, geese and swans tip! It's particularly funny with swans who look so graceful--sticking their butts up in the air.

We're back from our trip to the Pinery.

  10. And they blend right in with the stumps. I suppose they are grateful to the beavers for this camouflage!
