Dogs and Red Squirrels

The dogs have learned that the red squirrels tunnel
through the snow because of sights like this.

Sophie can smell the squirrels under the snow
and digs for long amounts of time to uncover them.

Here, Sophie is tracking a squirrel under the snow.

This is the deepest snow hole Sophie has dug.

A view through the back room window of Sophie in the back.

The wide trail is where Scout burrowed through
the squirrel under-snow trail while trying to find the squirrel.

This is the new above-snow trail of the squirrels.
They remain just out of reach of the dogs.
(The dog trampled snow is on the far left).

An uncovered squirrel tunnel.

The uncovered squirrel tunnel as Sophie found it.

The squirrels aren't worried about dogs at all.

  1. Marvellous. Red squireels are now very rare in England, having been displaced by the imported grey cousin.

I hope you and your family have a very happy Christmas
