To love at all . . .

One of my favorite quotations from C. S. Lewis. I was reminded of it in another blog today:

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket — safe, dark, motionless, airless — it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

  1. Thanks for stopping by my front porch today and commenting on my PhotoHunt photo...yep, it is sad but I only dwell on it as the moment strikes..such as when I read the theme for this Sat...it has been on my mind and it was the perfect time to express a momentary sadness. Thanks.

  2. I'll give my love to an animal without even thinking about it. It's the people who are the breakers of hearts and killers of love. Not all, by any means, but there are some choice suspects out there!

  3. That's a good one. I've been asking God for signs that I should pursue that eHarmony thing or not...maybe yeah.
